Beach Your Holiday Style

Hey Beachonista!  Christmas is a few short days away.  Embarrassingly so, I've gotten to the point where I'm starring blankly at my closet hoping a Christmas-y outfit will walk off a hanger and make itself ready for departure on Christmas eve night.  Like yours, my brain is full of to-do's (Christmas shopping and oh, life-changing goals) that occupy a large space in my head leaving little room for inspiration or excitement to dress up this year.  Are you feeling like this too? Perhaps the antidote lies in shaking things up.  I'm in the mood to try something new since the tried and true ensembles don't appeal to me much. Let's freshen things up a bit, hmm?

Interested? Check out these three refreshing (and untraditional) looks you can most likely pull together from your closet that will beach your holiday style!

Shorts + Glitz

Right.  This time of year is pretty cold.  But what if you're the hostess of your Christmas (or NYE) party? That means you're still able to pull this glamorized beach-y look off.  All it takes is a classic pair of cut off jean shorts, a graphic tee (preferably dark like this) topped with a sequins jacket.  Have nothing like this in your closet? Your best bet is Forever21 for all these pieces so you can beach your holiday style!

Psst. Be sure to adorn with gold accessories for a dressier impact. ;)

Glitzy Pants

So you're traveling in the cold weather to your Christmas party? Try this. It's a little warmer.  I just bought two pairs of sequin leggings.  I have to say...I LOVE THEM with graphic tees.  It's like wearing pajama pants but they are all glammed up on the outside. It's pretty effortless.  Again, lather on gold bracelets and a fun statement necklace with this holiday style too.

Off-The-Shoulder Sparkle

Got a favorite pair of ripped jeans? Add a slouchy off-the-shoulder sequins top and you're set once again with minimal effort.  Now you can concentrate on making your hair extra fab and your makeup flawless.

Yes. The theme seems to be sequins when it comes to my favorite way to beach your holiday style.  Personally, there is no better time to wear them. Aside from sparkle, the most important emphasis here is comfort.  Most holiday outfits are uncomfortable, tight or downright binding. With these pieces, I wanted to highlight the relaxed beach style that borderlines a tom-boyish style to ensure comfort happens.  (Check out my holiday style board on Pinterest for more looks!) Why? More times than not, I've been awkwardly uncomfortable in tight dresses and high stiletto heels, when in reality I didn't have to. I don't want you to either.  Take these style tips and apply them to your holiday style and enjoy the holiday season! Wishing you a wonderful and magical time.

Fresh. Flamboyant. Frock.

So this is my first post as "The Beachonista." And, wow... do I feel shy and slightly naked typing these words to you.  Like I have big shoes to fill. Or...whatever I'm saying must have the most profound impact on you, stylishly speaking, of course.  When it comes down to it...the truth is: I just bought a dress.  I wanted to share it with you and tell how I put it together and made it feel stylish to me.  I wasn't really looking to purchase a dress.  This dress found me. While I was lurking on Facebook, in fact. When I laid eyes on the oh-so-clever ad (targeting 30-something-year-olds I'm sure) it felt like a sudden rush of "love-at-first-sight, meant-to-be, cue-the-violins" moment.  On a side note: Trust those instinctual bursts of excitement.  Could be shopaholic tendencies or a strong sign you've found "the one." Either way: follow it. Because as far as I see it, there's always a receipt involved and should the store accept returns - your butt is covered! ;)

The three words that come to mind when I think of this dress are: Fresh. Flamboyant. Frock.  Yes, it's "fresh" because it's a bit outside of my usual a-line boho styled dress.  It's very summer-y and stylish for the season.  For a curvy girl like myself,  I felt pretty comfortable showing the amount of skin this frock allows because all coverable parts are secured in place. ;) How much did I spend and where did I purchase this dress? From for $28!

My favorite way to accessorize my fresh flamboyant frock is to wear my favorite pair of brown strappy high-heeled sandals that I purchased from Payless for a whopping $25.00.

I don't know why but a stack of gold bangles with a variety of colors went well with this dress in addition to my old, old clear statement necklace from Charlotte Russe

Similar to true love, some fresh flamboyant frocks find you when you least expect it.  You hardly ever have to purchase accessories if you keep a good little stock of bangles, statement necklaces (in classic colors) and up to date heels to instantly create fresh style when your perfect dress finds you.  I hope you enjoyed my post!  Have you had a similar experience? I'd love to hear about it below!

Until then....

The Beachonista: My New Vibe.

Hey Beachonistas!
So...I solved my own blogging problem as to why I couldn't get my fingertips to a keyboard consistently to write a post for my former blog: The Fashionista Coach.  I've done some changing. I'm more of who I am these days, which has changed the style of fashion I would like to share with you. Or should I say: I'm more specific as to what I'd like to share here?

Ever since I moved back to my hometown in Spring 2014, I've had a year's time to reconnect with the life I have long forgotten and loved as a kid.

Getting a fresh start has opened up room for me to remember who I truly am and what I like doing at its basic core.

So why did I change from The Fashionista Coach to The Beachonista?  Believe me. I loved following the latest trend and blogging about the fine details of all it had to offer.  However, I realized that it's time to show you more of who I am.  More specifically, I want to zero in on beach (life) style and hope it will inspire your style too.  I'm also taking it a step beyong style and put my style into action.  I'm going to post video footage of my adventures while surfing, Stand Up Paddleboard(ing) and skateboarding - oh, even bike riding.  I'm toying with the idea of adding decorating and cooking posts now that I have my own pad.  I want to share what I've been passionately dabbling in while not writing for The Fashionista Coach. ;)

All of these activities inspire my world, and I hope they will inspire yours too.

Thank you for being apart of The Fashionista Coach's journey and hope to have you on this new road with me while I share beach (life) style with you here at The Beachonista.

Do you have any thoughts about the change?  Feel free to let me know in the comments section below.  I'd love to hear from you!

For now, I'm busy putting a lot of fun posts together that I hope you enjoy!

Talk to you soon, Beachonista!

P.S. You can STILL access and ENJOY all the posts from my former blog (The Fashionista Coach) through this blog. If you have any favorite posts, don't worry, they're still there for you to read!

My New $5 LBD Styled 3 Ways!

Fashionista!!  A girl simply cannot survive in the "fashion" wilderness without an LBD. An LBD is the 'pb' to a PB&J. The rainbow sprinkles to vanilla frozen yogurt. The icing to a beautiful cake. {Wow, can you tell I'm hungry?? lol} Basically, it's an essential ingredient to a stylish wardrobe. And it usually comes with a "love-at-first-sight-LBD" story like the one I had today!!

Yes. It definitely was a romanticized Hollywood moment. But instead of falling for a handsome guy, it was a little black dress on the $5 rack!! What made this moment even more warm and fuzzy was how this dress stood out to me while wedged between a sea of other LBD's on the sidewalk in front of my favorite boutique: Harper & Harlow. Oh, and did I mention I was fast-walking full speed ahead with skateboard in one hand and dog in the other???  Oh, and my meter was 30 seconds shy of expiring! Talk about extreme focus.  Was it a coincidence? I think not.  It was fate. Definitely fate. ;) And I can only {happily} thank the fashion gods for putting me in the right place at the right time.

Since having had it in my possession for a few hours, I've tried it on with EVERYTHING in my closet.   From this, my new $5 LBD styled 3 ways is all I'll need to look fantastic for when dressy to semi-casual events arise.  So, I wanted to share my favorite picks with you along with a simple style formula you can try too!

Style #1: Classy B--.

LBD + Peep Toe Heels + Gold Accessories

Style #2: Chic Country Girl.
LBD + Cowboy Boots + Gold Accessories

Style 3: Boho Princess.
LBD + Gladiator Flats + Statement Necklace

Now that you've seen my new $5 LBD styled 3 ways, which one are you going to try?  Just follow the simple formula with your LBD and see what you come up with! Got a selfie of it? Email it to me! I always love hearing from you! info(at)thefashionistacoach(dot)com. Wishing you a lovely day, Fashionista!!
