How to Wear a Statement Necklace Casually

Hey Fashionista!!  Statement necklaces are seriously all the rage now-a-days because of their stylish, sophisticated yet playful design.  You can easily grab one in any fabulous color at a price fit for your budget.  And, what's oh-so-lovely about a statement necklace is that it's pretty much all you need to complete your outfit.  (Perfect for all of us who like to keep it simple! ;)

Many believe statement necklaces are meant for fancy occasions or corporate environments, where you are expected to dress up.  However, it is not the case.  You can absolutely wear it casually; around town and with jeans.  To give you a better understanding of this concept, I've outlined a few ways on how to wear a statement necklace casually so you can bust out your favorite statement necklace even on your day off! Trust me, you won't look tacky!

Here's how...

Bottoms: Since it's winter time (and it's most likely cold where you're at!) start by picking out your favorite pair of jeans.  Mine are these hole-y, light-medium wash denim from Abercrombie & Fitch - that started off as non-hole-y, until one day the fence grabbed a hold of 'em..lol..mm'yeah ...long story!

Top: I happen to be a major fan of bling. So, I felt pretty excited to wear my sequin tee from Loft. It literally wears like a comfortable t-shirt that happens to have really pretty gems attached to the front.  If you don't have anything like this, fear not.  You can pick your favorite graphic or plain tee to do the job!

Additional Layers:
I adore a great cardigan - like my brand new dark green cardigan from LOFT. It's so winter-y (warm, cozy and in a rich hue!) and also serves as the anchoring point when combining casual and glamour elements together.  (A good point to remember, Fashionista!)  Make sure to select dark colorful pieces to layer with your statement necklace and jeans (think highly pigmented colors like dark purple, dark pink, etc.) to successfully marry the casual elements of your jeans + t-shirt with the glamorous touch of your statement necklace.

Prints: If your outfit is too bland - (think all solid colors) - toss in a print, like leopard print flats or striped cardigan to add additional style to your casual look.  Sequins also provide a nice texture to the overall outfit as well - so don't be afraid to pop them in where you see fit!

I hope you enjoyed this post on how to wear a statement necklace casually! If you created this look and want to share, feel free to post it on my Facebook page www.Facebook.com/TheFashionistaCoach - or tag #TheFashionistaCoach on Instagram or Twitter!  Wishing you a fabulous Monday, Fashionista!!

Classic Engagement Party Ensemble

Hey Fashionista!! So this past weekend I went back to my hometown and attended my friend's engagement party.  I packed -- actually, OVER-PACKED - as usual, lots of different dresses but wasn't enthused about wearing any of them to the party.

SO. While I was out with my friends - shopping, of course ;) I spotted the cutest backless lace LBD for only $42 at Katwalk (store located in Manhattan Beach, CA -- Online shop: www.ShopKatwalk.com))) and felt like a classic look would best suit this engagement party.

Below, I posted several pictures of how I styled my LBD to create classic engagement party ensemble!

Oh, and I totally took these pictures when I got home because I couldn't quite capture a cute picture while I was at the party! ;)

The Details....The only way I could talk myself into purchasing this dress from Katwalk, while the other 5 dresses sat in my suitcase, was the fact that I don't have any other dress quite like this one in my closet.  So, naturally it made perfect sense to buy it.  Did my husband agree with my logic? Not so much. :)

Whenever in doubt about what to wear to an engagement party, always go for a classic ensemble.

Start by choosing an LBD.

I normally wear black pumps with my LBD, but I didn't pack them. Go figure. However, I did pack my nude peep-toe bow pumps, which paired nicely with the rest of my accessories and dress.

I loved accessorizing with classic pieces like my J.Crew necklace, LOFT blingy bracelet and Kate Spade glitter clutch.

Neutral colors are always safe - same with neutral accessories, like crystals, diamonds, or rhinestones.

Even though the color palette is simple, doesn't mean the outfit has to be dull.  To ensure your safety from the 'dull-zone', pick pieces with pretty textures, like lace or lovely embellishments, like bows and sparkle.

Whenever in doubt always go for a classic engagement party ensemble that includes a Little Black Dress, diamonds/crystals/clear jewelry, nude heels with lots of feminine details like lace, sparkle and bows!  I hope you enjoyed today's post! Wishing you a wonderful day, Fashionista!
