One Priceless Way to Build a New Wardrobe

Hey Fashionista! I know many of you wished for a million dollars to spend on a new wardrobe. Or wished for a stylist to build one for you. Many of us do not have the luxury (yet) to either option, but the good news is that you don't have to have tons of money or a full time stylist to achieve a beautiful new wardrobe. You can attain this with the budget you have and with this tip I'm about to share with you.   In fact, if you do this (or stop doing the thing that's keeping you stuck) then you are on your way to super-sized style! Ready to learn one priceless way to build a new wardrobe?

The one thing we tend to do when we're shopping is buy something similar to what we already own. Say for example, you love the color pink. You're shopping for a new scarf and you gravitate towards a pink scarf. The only problem is that you have 10 scarves with some sort of pink variation! You're probably thinking "Amanda, pink is my SIGNATURE color." And I'd say "YOU ROCK!" Pink is my fave too. However, if you're yearning for a fresh look, and are stuck in a "style-rut" - you MUST add new color, prints and patterns to your wardrobe- THAT YOU DON'T ALREADY OWN. This method applies to anything you have multiples of...5 stripe shirts, multiple pairs of dark wash jeans, brown sandals. Anything you tend to buy over and over again, is a good indicator it's time to make a NEW selection.

So, instead of a stripe top, go for a graphic tee. Instead of a brown pair of sandals, go for white or black! Instead of dark wash jeans, go for a printed jean. If any of this terrifies you, you can always use my method: buy it on sale! That way if you can't stand it, hate it or found another color/print/style that suits you better (that isn't your typical go-to) you'll be happy you didn't spend tons of money on it. Or, just keep your receipt for a full-priced purchase and return it. :)

Just by taking in this little step, you will have a new, fresh and exciting wardrobe. Notice how this one priceless way to build a new wardrobe doesn't require a million dollars? And it certainly does not require a stylist....well, I am one, but, this is a free tip! Try this shopping tip out! Tell me: Do you have one color or style you go for over and over again? Please share with me in the comment section below! Have a beautiful day, Fashionista.

How to Create Rainy Day Style

Hey Fashionista! Here in Southern California, we've been blessed with lots of rain. This is fantastic news because last year was very dry. Hardly any rain. :/ In my opinion, winter isn't winter without rain drops and rain boots!

While rain is a good thing (as said by the hunky Luke Bryan!), the weather can be depressing if it rains for an extended period of time.  It's important to make your rainy day style FUN.  Pick vibrant colors or playful prints. And, please, forget boring, stiff, and dull colors. They'll make you despise gloomy weather. When really, you should feel awesome in the rain! So, let's look at the main components of rainy day style.

Yes, a jacket is a no-brainer when it comes to rainy day style. However, there's a difference in the type of coats that can withstand the length of time you'll be in wet conditions. If you walk to work in the rain or will be doing any kind of activity for long periods of time, a waterproof jacket is necessary. However, if you're out in the rain for a short time, let's say to get out of the car to run into the coffee shop or to work, you can get away with a wool-blend coat - which is one of the most highly-produced coats and is cost-effective!

I freaking love umbrellas. They are fun and add loads of flair to your rainy day style. There's no limit to the amount of cute prints and patterns you can implement into your ensemble. One of my favorite retailers sells cute ones for as low as $2.99! Check them out at Forever 21 here. In fact, I feel it's better to buy a cute inexpensive umbrella because the wind can be kind of a jerk and snap that puppy in half. Oh yeah...I've definitely been there!  If that does happen to you, at least you won't be upset that you spent a ton of money on it. Save your money and pick up a cute inexpensive one instead.

Rain boots are the best shoes to wear out in the rain. They're comfortable, waterproof and colorful. Target has a great selection of prints and colors for as low as $29. Also, faux leather boots or treated leather work great for the rain also. I love wearing my boots from Victoria's Secrets. They withstand the rain pretty well!

Lastly, scarves are another rainy day style 'do.' They keep our necks warm and add even more style to cool winter days. You can keep it classy with a black cashmere scarf, or go for vibrant-print fleece for added flair. You have a lot more room here to incorporate any material you prefer.

No matter what occasion you're participating in or what you're wearing, these pieces will serve you well on a rainy day. I hope you enjoyed today's post! Please feel free to leave a comment below with any thoughts or questions. Have a wonderful day, Fashionista!

Layer Winter Leg Accessories

Hey Fashionista!!
It's officially winter time in the U.S. -- woo hoo!
Are you loving it so far? I've got plans to hit the mountains and sled with my honey. No, skiing or snowboarding for me. I don't know how to do that. Besides, I like the free-ness of sitting on a piece of plastic and flying down hills! :)
We all know winter weather is chilly-willy, which normally prevents us from wearing dresses.  With this style tip I am about to share with you, that will be a thing of the past!
The next time you'd like to wear a dress to let's say out on a date, layer these winter accessories with them!

The Style Formula!
Your Favorite Dress + Black Patterned Tights + Boot Socks + Boots!

I LOVE the black heart tights in the picture above.  You can find a pair at Forever 21 for just under $6! Then, layer them with off-white boot socks. Foot Traffic has them for $10. The contrast of these two opposite colors are fabulous, warm and full of flair.

Then choose a slouchy GRAY boot that rises mid-calf.  I suggest wearing a mid-rise boot so you can really see your boot socks. It's pointless to wear cute boot socks with tall boots because you can't see them! You can pick a pair up from Payless for under $30!

Or, you can choose to wear a sleek pair of rain boots paired with classic black tights and gray boot socks.  Remember, Fashionista, you're not limited to black, gray and white. You can mix and match other colors too!

There ya have it! All you have to do is layer winter leg accessories to look fabulous while staying warm! Cheers to that! I hope you have a wonderful day, Fashionista!
