How to Dress for a Semi-Casual Holiday Party

Hey Fashionista! This is the first of four holiday posts! I've covered just about every angle of holiday style because each area has an easy style equation to adhere to in order to achieve style success.  And since you've most likely got multiple holiday parties on your calendar,  I want to make sure you make the most of your holiday pieces. So, welcome to my first "Holiday Style" post!

Hey Fashionista! Time to wave a BIG "HELLO" to holiday party season! It's upon us, in fact, it's probably starting this weekend for most of you. Each holiday party comes in a variety of sizes, it's true. But, lately, I've noticed an ever-growing trend of semi-casual holiday parties.  Which are my favorite to dress for! But to some this dress-code can be kind of confusing. Do I wear a dress to my boss's semi-casual holiday dinner at her house? Are jeans okay? Lots of questions, right? No worries! I've got a couple of pointers on how to dress for a semi-casual holiday party!

Choose casual glammed-up denim.
Denim is considered casual and yet it can look totally glamorous with the right pieces. These skinny jeans (pictured above) work well for a semi-casual holiday party because they highlight your shape, like a flattering dress or skirt would and they accentuate glamorous pieces like patterned heels and classic chiffon blouses. Pick a dark denim pant to dress up your overall look.

Choose casual pieces in FANCY finishes.
Black, white and denim are CLASSIC colors.  They are neutral yet striking when you choose them in luxe fabrics.  For instance, a top can be casual, but if you choose it in a fancy fabric like white chiffon, it's casually glamorous.  Denim jeans are totally casual, unless you pick a dark wash, then they look dressed up.

Choose Small Areas for a BIG Statement.
Continuing on with this "classic-glamorous" theme we've got goin' on here....choose a simple statement necklace in one color like, black (which, is stunning and universal in the holiday style handbook-btw!).  Add several gold bracelets together and you're set. If you feel naked without earrings, go for diamond studs. They will balance this look nicely and are easily adaptable to any type of semi-casual holiday party.

Choose a little bit of pattern.
When your semi-casual holiday party ensemble is classic and striking with minimal color, it's safe to add pattern in unexpected areas, like, your pumps --or clutch! I like the way this Fashionista ((pictured above)) stayed in the black and white theme with her peep-toe pumps. It adds a nice finishing touch to a semi-casual holiday party ensemble.

Fashionista be sure to view more holiday party styles on my Pinterest board! I've got all kinds of different looks from casual to super formal you can implement to your holiday parties this year.

Alright, Fashionista! You're ready to 'wow' at your next semi-casual holiday party! I'm sure you have several to go to! Stay safe and please enjoy yourself this holiday season!

Love,
Your Fashion Coach

  5. I do believe that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. What does it really means to us? It only explains that true beauty is not in our physical aspects but in our inner aspects. In short, attitude or character because what you have shown is what people think of you. Beauty comes out naturally. Visit my site #triciajoy for some terrific offer that I am sure you can't refuse. Thanks for sharing such a wonderful article. Have a good day!
