Color Block Your Summer Work-Wear

Hey Fashionista!! Now that summer is HERE, I've got a super cute way you can love your Mondays again: color block your summer work-wear!

Here's how: First...grab your trusted pencil skirt.  Instead of black, go for summer WHITE.  It's a fresher way to jazz up your summer work-wear that is season/office-appropriate.

Then, add your favorite color block top - preferably one with classic lines.  Add a belt around your waist (instead of your hips). This little move will make you look leaner and taller (which is superb for shorties like myself ;).  Lastly, add a dash of FUN bold accessories like, coral and teal jewelry and bright wedge shoes to complete your summer work-wear look!

See, Monday doesn't have to be so bad! Having a fresh take on summer work-wear will change your mood, which will cause you to have a great day. I hope you enjoyed this idea on how to color block your summer work-wear!  See you next time!

Fashion Serendipity!!

Hey Fashionista!! I experienced "Fashion Serendipity" today!! What's a 'Fashion Serendipity' you ask? Allow me to explain....(there's quite a bit of fantastic-ness for you.) This morning I logged onto Facebook (as usual) to check my horoscope; see what my family and friends were up to, and created a few fashion posts for my fan page.

As I swished through my newsfeed, I stumbled upon a BEAUTIFUL blue and white chevron strapless maxi dress (pictured to the left!).  I instantly knew this dress was "the one" that would work beautifully for the 4th of July! It's festive, a maxi (my favorite style) and would work for other functions beyond the 4th of July. This dress simply fit the bill!  (Yes, I totally plan my holiday ensemble in advance! lol).

I clicked on the link prepared to purchase away! Only, I was met with shock and disappointment...my size was no longer available in the color I wanted! ((((No!)))  AND it was priced higher than I thought it was worth.  {{Double whammy.}}   At that point I considered buying the yellow one. Maybe I could add blue and white accessories to make it look festive for the 4th of July.  I started imagining myself in it (for 30 seconds to be exact) and knew it wouldn't work. My heart was set on the blue one. :/

I let it go and carried on with my day. Ran a few errands. Got some work done. Then I logged onto Pinterest and saw that one of my friends pinned the same chevron strapless maxi dress in yellow.  I clicked on it (thinking it was from the same boutique) and happily discovered ANOTHER online retailer sold it!! Not only that, they had blue IN STOCK  in my SIZE!! Just when I thought it could not get any better, I saw that it was only $36.99! Much cheaper than the other boutique! I was  doing the happy dance!! My disappointment quickly melted away and my enthusiasm returned! I felt like the fashion gods were smiling down on me! :) hehe.

SO! Here are my tips for you if you are ever in the same situation.....1. Follow random people's style boards on Pinterest. The only requirement is to LIKE or LOVE that person's fashion pins.  I followed a stranger's style board and she was the one who hooked me up without even realizing it! (I'll have to send her a thank you note when I'm done writing this post!)

2. Do a Pinterest search on the item you're looking for. You never know, it might pop up.

3. Don't compromise. If a dress costs too much and/or the color is out of stock, don't settle for something that you don't want. Let it go and let The Universe surprise you with a Fashion Serendipity!

In short, a Fashion Serendipity, is when you find what you're looking for without even trying- and it works out better than you thought possible!! I stumbled across the same dress, in the color I wanted, in my size and half off. Remember don't settle for less than what you want, Fashionista! Your Fashion Serendipity could be right around the corner!! If you've already experienced a 'Fashion Serendipity' I'd love to hear your story! Share with us in the comment section below!! Have a beautiful day!!

My Favorite Go-To Summer Necklaces!

Hey Fashionista!! Ahhh...it's almost summa-summa-time! The weather is ushering in warm, unforgettable days! Normally this is when I'd stop mid-sentence and say - "Summer? Already? Where has the year gone???" Haha. But this time I won't.  Honestly, I am HAPPY for clear blue skies, warm sunshine dancing across my skin, inhaling delicious BBQ food, swimming in the pool and watching fireworks over the lake. It's a magical time of year where fun and fashion is heightened to a whole new level.

Since you're going to be busy making beautiful memories this summer, I want to share my favorite summer necklaces that will enhance the sparkle of your summer! I've got 3 "must-have" summer necklaces that will accent your party dress, your going out-on-the-town ensemble, and your "lazy summer" day look.  Ready for it? Here they are! (Oh, and I should mention, they're reeeeally, reeeally affordable. ;)

 a-thread apparel Bib Necklace $23

Ahh green jeweled bib necklace! Epitome of gorgeous. Don't you think? This stunner works so well with any dressed up ensemble, like a dress or, even, with casual jeans, a dressy camisole and heels. Make sure you choose a low-cut top so the jewels can be highlighted against your d├ęcolletage, fashionista. For extra sparkle: exfoliate your chest for glowy skin. ;)

$32.50-42.50

I know you remember the movie Cinderella! But do you remember how Cinderella and her stepsisters loved beaded necklaces? Haha. There's a reason why this necklace was chic then and is still chic now! Beads and fresh colors like coral are timeless and classic because they are simple yet they make a big flattering statement.

Pick out a long beaded necklace (like the one above) and wear it casually or when you're dressed up for the ball! :)  *For an added ump of style: wear a neutral color like white or black for a striking combo! Give it a try! ;)

Pendant necklaces are very important to your jewelry collection because they are classic and go with....everything.  If you're used to your tried-and-true pendant necklace, switch it up in the name of summer by wearing a nautical coin pendant instead!  Don this baby with anything...jeans, tee, tanks, flip flops, barefoot, bikini - whatever you want! It will go with everything!

You see, it's important to implement my favorite go-to summer necklaces, because they fulfill a specific need in your ensemble! Pendants are great for casual wear, while bib necklaces are meant for fancier occasions.  Long beaded necklaces adapt to any occasion.  Remember these tips for when you're dressing for your fabulous summer! Oh-- and feel free to share your favorite summer necklace with me by commenting below! Or on my facebook wall -> www.Facebook.com/TheFashionistaCoach! Here's to your BEST Summer yet, Fashionista!

Cheers!
